Novella

I seem to remember having some idea of keeping you all updated on my novel during the summer but... that kind of went whirling down the lines of plumbing. So, sorry about that. But here we are! It's September - Labor Day no less - and I met my goal of finishing my novel before the end of the summer.

My novel is 114 pages long and about 35,000 words. I'll admit I was hoping for more than that, but considering the fact that I wrote a fourth of the book in my last week, it'll do. At this length, my novel is technically a novella, but that sounds too much like Nutella. But hey, is that really a bad thing?

If you're not familiar with the premise of my novel, you can read it here: 'Caged' Unlocked.

For those of you interested in reading my novel: sorry, it'll be a bit of a wait. During the process of writing, a lot was changed. If you were to read my novel all the way through, you would be confused by the great amount of inconsistency. The characters change in so many ways, as does the backstory, goal and plot. It's a mess.

Someday I hope to go back for a rewrite. Someday. But I see a busy school year ahead of me and can't bring myself to consider doing it soon. Maybe next summer. We'll see. Maybe within the next ten years. We'll see. Either way, I'll still be writing. Short stories, poems, and maybe even another book. It's amazing how many ideas you gets when you're in the middle of another project and can't even think about following up on them.

So, keep checking my blog for more! There's a possibility there might be something interesting.

Oh. One more thing. The title is another thing that has changed during the process of writing. What I mean by that is that "Caged" no longer fits and I am left without a title. Don't worry. I'll dredge one up at some point.

  1. Writing a whole novel (or novella) is a wonderful accomplishment. Your perseverance even when it seemed the road ahead was impossible to traverse is a testament to your desire to write. I'm proud of you!
